I Graduated from The University of Sheffield with a BA Hons and Masters Degree in 2004 before working in Private Practice for award winning Birmingham based, Lapworth Partnership, latterly Lapworth Architects until 2014 where worked on a variety of projects including residential, commercial, retail and period buildings.
I passed my Part 3, qualifying as an Architect and joining the Register of Architects (ARB) in 2006.
I became a senior member of the team at Lapworth Architects and was given significant responsibility to win work, meet new clients and develop projects from inception through to completion.
I had several regular Developer customers and was ultimately offered a role at Elegant Developments who were one of my main clients.
Elegant Developments
I was offered the position of Company Architect at Elegant Developments in 2014 when the Company had agreed the purchase of a part built development site in Dickens Heath. The project consisted of 136 new built apartments and town houses over an existing basement car park, the scale and complexity of the project was significant and my appointment was a proactive appointment to supplement the existing management team of Managing Director, Construction Director and Senior Site Agent.
My role has developed over time from providing architectural drawings to supporting site management, procuring tenders and managing sub-contractors. Following the successful completion of the Dickens Heath Development we acquired a brownfield site in Hampton In Arden where we obtained Planning Permission for the erection of 44 Houses and apartments which has recently been completed.
MacDougall Architecture
My broad range of skills and expertise led me to found MacDougall Architecture in early 2021, Located in the West Midlands we have a proactive approach to resolving challenging project briefs both with new build and the re-use and re-visioning of buildings to our clients’ individual requirements.
Having worked as in both private practice and for a niche housebuilder I have acquired a unique skill set to deliver practical but innovative design solutions.
The focus of the practice is residential, domestic and commercial projects offering a full design service from concept and inception through to construction.
